Come on, let’s take a peek inside!

Our Gardens & Our Animals

Unicare lives an holistic approach to environment sustainability.

Managed by our two dedicated environmental educators, explore our beautiful environment, learn about supporting it in very real, everyday ways including recycling and composting. We tell stories, learn about First Nations stories and environmental approaches.

Caring for animals helps children develop nurturing and social skills. Developing positive feelings about pets can aid self-esteem and help children develop verbal communication and compassion.

From a very young age, children who look after gardens and animals are engaging in an inquiry-based approach to learning, they explore, ask, try and repeat, learning as they go. Our children develop an appreciation and understanding of biological sciences, particularly lifecycles of animals and plants and their needs for growing, living and surviving in our world.

Our Children’s Rooms

Each room is furnished to provide an exploration in every area.

Curiosity is stimulated and then as the children’s interests and directions grow, we support their learning in the direction they are ‘needing’ to go!

Each room also provides a cosy place for books and stories, a quiet place for imagining and ‘me time’, and a place where they can leave their games or creations intact and knowing they are respected, go back to them later.

Our Rooms and Spaces are Beautiful

We have space. Unicare’s classrooms, gardens and playgrounds are 1,100 square meters.

Our large rooms have a light and airy feel that the children and families all immediately love.

Our Courtyard

We have two central courtyards which provide outdoor learning spaces. One is an open plaza and the place where musicians come to play, and great art explorations happen.

It is also where we explore woodwork, plan, and invent things and even make stocks of paper for special events.

The other is a planting ‘classroom’ for our environment program where we learn to take care of the soil, nurture the baby plants, measure growth, water, and weed, and harvest when we are ready.

Our Dining Room

Having meals together creates a feeling of belonging.

In our Central courtyard we have a large dining room. The meals at Unicare come from a dietician designed menu and are prepared onsite by our Chef. We know children can be fussy with meals and parents can worry. Our menus offer variations for allergies, cultural and dietary needs, and for taste. It's also a fun time for them to meet the chef, ask questions, and experience how food is prepared.

Our Library

The library is another unique feature at Unicare as we strive to promote literacy in our daily practice. We have a wide variety of books span across a wide range of learning areas such as History, Geography, Science, Art, Indigenous Perspectives, Numeracy right up to physical education and learning about safety.

Story time plays an important role in our daily teaching practice to stimulate a love for reading and research.

The children love spending time in the library to read books and engage in fiction and non-fiction texts. Our children build key literacy skills to ask questions, make predictions, clarify information, and summarising or retelling key learnings or details. We also do love sharing ideas after we finish a story to encourage critical thinking and reflective thinking skills.

Our Parents Room

From the front door, in foyer to the parent room, we offer places to sit and talk and share. The parent room is the place to talk privately with your child’s Educator or specialist, see the Centre Director, do some work while you wait for your child to wake up from their nap, or have lunch with your child for a special moment in the middle of the busy work day.
